The collection of signatures and supporting letters is open to encourage the NGO in the House that nott a long time ago faced a problem of eviction. The special web-site was open within the campaign, it shows all the information on the situation and list of actions to support the large human rights and civil center of Russia.
The main aim of campaign is to "make the Human Rights House - Voronezh dependent on its inhabitants and those interested in their work but not on local authorities" - says Dmitri Makarov - Moscow Helsinki Group, Youth Human Rights Movement
The initiators of Campaign struggle to exclude the building from the privatization plan and also insist on widening of premises for the work of human rights NGOs, primarily the public consultation service, and the Public Consultation Service for Ombudsman in Voronezh region also situated there.
The special web-site was open within the campaign, it shows all the information on the situation and list of actions to support the large human rights and civil center of Russia.
You may remember, that this building where several large NGOs such as Youth Human Rights Movement, Confederation of Free Labor, Interregional Human Rights Group, Free University and others are located was included into the privatization plan , and only due to personal support of Russian Ombudsman Vladimir Lukin and Chairperson of Moscow Helsinki Group Liudmila Alekseeva helped to avoid the sell of the building exactly on 12th of May as it was primarily planned.
Nevertheless, there are no guarantees, that this building will not be sold in near months. Besides, even these premises are not enough for the work of such a large center and normal work of Public Consultation Service.
